REVELL Bf109 G-6

April 18, 2024 · in Aviation · · 6 · 237

Here is my latest build after quite a long, ongoing illness. Its the 1:32 Bf109 G-6.

The build itself was basically OOB, except for some PE seat belts, and a seat "pad" made from an off cut of material (again, not correct, but i like it)

When it came to the colour scheme, this is where i had a BIG problem. I liked BOTH the paint / decal options and could not decide which to use, so, I made a decision (purists look away now), I decided to combine BOTH to make it a purely fictional aircraft.

Paints were from Vallejo & MIG Ammo, The (sometimes troublesome) yellow nose & tail was painted first with Yellow Ochre, then 2 light coats of RAF trainer yellow, which i think turned out well.

Still a few bits to do, including an area where the decals decided to "silver" for some reason ( even after a good coat of gloss clear coat.

i anticipate that it should be complete within the week

  1. Nice work Tony. Can I provide a friendly tip on headline posts? Typically, headline posts are dedicated to finished work or the occasional new product review or model show coverage - that type of thing. This post would belong more in the Aircraft Work-in-Progress (WIP) thread. Although a few WIP shots are typically welcome near the end of a finished work post (in lieu of a full WIP post), a Headline Post is more about finished work.

Some folks will create a WIP thread with the in-progress shots, then add that link to the Headline Post with all the finished-subject shots, so those who want to look "underneath" the project can just hit the link for more detail.

  2. You are doing some great work on the Gustav, Tony @tonyanderton
As said by Greg @gkittinger, it would be great to follow your progress in one of the WIP groups. Not sure if there is one dedicated approach to move it in one go. You could create a new topic and copy all your text in there, likely you need to re-upload the pictures.

  3. Great job and great looks so far, Tony!

  4. That looks very good Tony. Looking forward to seeing the 109 finished 👍
