1/72 Tamiya Republic P-47D Thunderbolt

For my third article on iModeler I'll show my latest model, a Republic P-47D "razorback" in scale which was finished on April of this year. It's my second "razorback" kit, the first one was an old Airfix kit that I built when I was a teenager back in the seventies. I've built also the "bubbletop" P-47D from an Academy kit, it was finished and posted on the Aircraft Resource Center site by April 2021.

This "razorback" is my first Tamiya finished kit, and I have to say that the fit of the kit and its level of detail are both excellent. From Tamiya I also have a partially built De Havilland Mosquito that I'll try to finish in the next months, plus other unbuilt kits.

I chose to finish my "razorback" P-47D with the eye catching "Little Chief" markings. As my "bubbletop" P-47D was armed with bombs and rocket launchers, I decided to finish my "razorback" as a long range escort fighter with two underwing drop tanks.

I'm very satisfied with the finished kit. Greetings from Caracas, Venezuela.

  6. Another nice one, Orlando. The very first serious model I ever built after i "knew what i was doing" was the old Revell 1/32nd scale P-47D Razorback, and I did it in the "Little Chief" livery. Very cool model you built there, great work.

  7. Another excellent build - I'll seeing a trend here!
