Hasegawa 1/48 Arado 234B-2/N

July 1, 2024 · in Aviation · · 12 · 309

This kit was also released by and ProModeler. Its origins relate to Trimaster/Dragon models. Like other kits in the series, this model is highly detailed but has many fit problems that complicate the build.

The aircraft represented here was not operational and appeared to be less suitable for night operations in comparison with the Messerschmitt Me-262B.

I added scratch made parts to enhance the features in the cockpit. The joints of fuselage units were roughly taped, but I am not sure that I got the desired effect.

  1. Awesome job on a definitely challenging kit, Rafi! The fuselage joints effect looks great to me.

  2. That is absolutely a "challenging kit," having done one when it first dame out. Nice work on yours, Rafi.

The problem for the Ar-234 at night was the canopy reflected light from the ground into the cockpit that could confuse the pilot.

  3. Nice looking build on that 1/48 Arado 234B (I have that one in The Stash and made note of the heads up on the kit build)

Rafi, @blackmopane, even as a challenge it is a kit worth building and you ended up with a good looking build for your efforts. I like the scheme too.

The biggest fit issue I experienced was the cockpit to the fuselage join. They molded the joint in the middle a molded doubler. I solved the problem by sanding the doubler off and getting a decent fit between the two pieces and then adding the doubler back with a thin strip of styrene plastic.

  5. Looks really nice - lots of cool details visible in the cockpit - really pays off!

  6. Excellent result, Rafi @blackmopane
Those extras in the cockpit are perfectly visible with all the glazing.
    Well done.
