Pasting Zimmerit: Dragon 1/35 Tiger I
Late production Tigers were commonly coated with zimmerit. With zimmerit applicator, it is possible to achieve realistic results since the field application of zimmerit was also free hand. In addition, the damage that the coat sustained in the field can be simulated with a hobby knife to complete the scene.
Dragon's Tiger variants are probably the best in the scale thanks to the meticulous attention to the details.
Nice Tiger, Rafi. Excellence weathering on this. I did zimmerit with Squadron white putty and a saw blade on a King Tiger about 20 years ago. I donβt build a lot of tanks, and lean towards Allied ones when I do. It came out better than I thought it would. I need to try that again.
Thank you John.
Zimmerit rock.
Both(?) tanks look great, Rafi! π @blackmopane, Very realistic modeling, sir! Which do you enjoy most, aircraft or armor? You seem equally talented in both fields! π
Thank you Gary!
Great looking Tiger tanks, Rafi @blackmopane
The Zimmerit looks very realistic. Last weekend I was up close to a Panther tank which still had the original Zimmerit on.

Thank you John and thanks for sharing.
Very nice finished product! Yes, the zimmerit was hand-applied, the way I have made mine too. Any up close photo will reveal the random look of the troweling that was used to create the pattern in the wet paste. There were variations of zimmerit patterns depending on the vehicle and manufacturer. I love this kind of stuff!, brings out the "armour geek" in me! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Jim.
Some vehicles like the Panther had factory applied zimmerit towards the end of the War.
Fantastic job on both and awesome painting and weathering, Rafi!
Well done!
Thank you Spiros!
Are you building a model a day? The amount of kits you produce AND the quality of each post is real craftsmanship. Excellent work as always.
Thank you Matt.
Many of the models had been built a while back. At the peak of this hobby occupation I built a model in a week. Now, I concentrate on sharing my collection.
