The Caudron G.III from Copper State Models is my...

The Caudron from Copper State Models is my first model build from this manufacturer. I was very surprised by the high quality of the kit. The construction of the model itself is basically simple. The quality of the moldings is fantastic. Putty must only be used on the upper wing on the underside, as the wing is assembled in three parts. I used Tamiya paints to paint the metal structures and canvas. Cockades and aircraft numbering are sprayed using masks created by OMASK. Imitation of wood is made with different shades of oil paints, applied to an acrylic base. I painted small parts, for example the connecting elements of the wooden structure, by hand with a brush. I used turnbuckles from GasPatch Models. I made the stitches with Prym elastic thread. For the control cables of the plane I used elastic thread from Uschi van der Rosten. Installing stringers between turnbuckles takes a bit of planning. At the end of the construction, the model can be gripped securely in only one place, without the risk of ripping off any cable. Although the model appears fragile, in reality the whole structure is very strong and stable. With a little patience, the result of the construction is an interesting and unconventional machine, the construction of which is a little easier than it looks at first glance.

  5. That is just plain crazy! What a model. All the great paintwork , details and the rigging...WOW.
One helluva first article. I have always been intrigued by the Caudrons, G3 and 4, but will never build one because of all those strings. Thanks for doing it for me. Take a bow, Maestro.

    • Thank you, Bill. I am very glad that you like my model so much. Rigging looks more complicated than it is. One needs patience, a steady hand, and I I still have a magnifying glass. 🙂

  6. Oh my simply stunning build Pavel. A real masterpiece. 😊

  7. @pavelmat99 Spectacular build. The detail work is top-notch. So much detail to study, can’t say enough how impressive this looks. Thanks for sharing your artistry

    Indeed welcome to iModeler, Pavel.

  13. And they called the Swordfish a stringbag...some of these WW1 aircraft are insane regarding the rigging 😀
    Awesome craftmanship, respect!
Would have lost my nerves 😀

  14. Absolutely wonderful building. Very inspiring for me. It's the best thing I've had the chance to see so far.

  15. OMG - that is fantastic! Words don't do it justice...

  16. Breathtaking really doesn't do this build justice Pavel. I don't even know where to begin. Such a unique subject to start with, but then the finish...just wow! I will definitely be coming back to these images if I ever get up the courage to tackle a WWI kit!

    • Thank you so much Doug. I'm glad you like my model and I appreciate your opinion. Once you build your first WWI plane, you'll never stop. It's a lifelong love. 🙂 I always told my wife that I would never, ever build biplanes. After that, when I built the first one, biplanes became my main modeling focus.

  17. Wow, what a model, and what a debut! 🤩 Incredible scale modeling, Pavel @pavelmat99! 🏆
