Airfix 1/48 S2 Buccaneer [new tool]
I posted this one on Britmodleller but want to share here too.
I employed the Quinta cockpit decal set, Pavla resin seats, Reskit rocket pods & Xtradecals sheet for an early 1966 HMS Triumph bird. It is painted with Gunze paints both Mr. Color and Aqueous line. It is an addition to my 1/48 FAA post 45 Jet collection. I did some backdating but not perfect.
I managed w/my limited skills the following to represent an early S.2 (pre-Mod.1044) airframe:
• Removal of the fuselage fairings (or bulges) in between the intakes and the fuselage.
• Removal of the nose leg landing light (apparently not fitted to naval Buccaneers).
• Removal of the chaff dispensers under the jet exhausts
• Replace seats with earlier Martin-Baker Mk.6 [slightly modified since commercially available resin seats are not exact matches for the Buccaneer—closest is theses Pavla seats]
• DO NOT attach the fin-mounted aerials or the radar passive warning pods under the wings (they were removable and not always carried).
• Removal of the Pulsator mods to the lower rear engine nacelles
• Removal of Structural Doublers- Where are they located?

Well done. I need one
Great results, Steven (@sjcorvi). Exceptional work and a lot of corrections to make this one look this good. Well done.
Nice. I have the decals for this airplane. Thanks for the list of necessary mods.
Nice work! I need to get cracking on mine.
Great looking Buc! Loved seeing them fly at Thunder City when I was a youngster.
"Limited skills"? Only limited in the sense that you are a mortal. This is truly impressive, both historically and aesthetically. Well done!
Thank you for your kind words...I am not entirely satisfied with the build. It looks nice collectively in the collection but we will see how it does during the Fall show season..LOL
Again you & this community have been very supportive & kind!
Steve
This Buccaneer looks amazing, Steven @sjcorvi
Your skills are far from limited.
Nice picture to see all those builds being displayed together.
Awesome Buccaneer, Steven!
Very nice! I remember these over us back in the day. Also me and Dad would go and have a look at them operating out of West Freuch when we were visiting rellies in Wigtownshire!
