White giants, easy build? Airfix 1/72 Victor & Vulcan
Homogeneously painted models bring a promise of an easy build. Yet, overall white paint cover is a wolf in a sheep skin. Not only that the model requires repeated coating to cover the darker colored plastic, but also extra care to eliminate seams and dents. The white contrasts with any blemish area that otherwise with darker colors would be easily ignored.
Hence, building white models takes considerably more time than most darker colors.
Airfix' Victor and Vulcan boast with plenty of details and good designs to show very nice representations of the giant aircraft. Yet, with chosen white overall cover, building time soars for ever...
Awesome job, Rafi! You certainly tackled the challenging white scheme supremely!
Congratulations!
Thank you Spiros!
These both look great Rafi ,is there a Valiant in the stash as well ?
Thank you Neil.
The Valiant remains in the online stores until I spot a significant price reduction if any😒
I have only 10 models in my stash.
That's why I camouflaged mine. 🙂
Nice work on these two.
Thank you Tom.
Still looking for a bargain to represent the camouflaged scheme.
I did the only Victor that didn't have "hard edge" camo, being one of the first to be camouflaged in 1964 - from the Xtra Decals sheet.

Both do look fantastic, Rafi @blackmopane
Homogeneously painting is very difficult but you clearly showed how to do it well.
I have had the opportunity to witness a Vulcan fly demonstration and that aircraft is so impressive.
Thank you John.
I also had several opportunities to watch both aircraft flying. Modelling the two was inevitable.
Most impressive flight demo I ever saw was a Vulcan doing a wings-vertical full-power 360 inside the airport perimeter at 1,500 feet, at the Abbotsford Canada show in 1977. The ground shook!
Awesome, Rafi @blackmopane. They both look great, love the weathered roundels! Now on to a Valiant!
Thank you Felix.
The roundels have muted colors from the factory paint shop. Given that prices are high for most models, I may succumb to the Valiant.
Great looking Victor and Vulcan Rafi, as every one says you need the Valiant now. When I was in the RAAF we had a Vulcan beat up our base then go vertical and disappeared into the clouds, what a tremendous noise!.
Thank you Ian!
Beautiful work! Not only hard to get good coverage with white, but to give it visual interest is challenging, and you excelled on that point!
Thank you Greg!
Nicely done, great work!
Thank you Bob!
I’d hate to think of how many bottles of white paint you had to use on just one of those jets.
Great Dynamic Duo!
Thank you George.
Far too many. I tried both enamel and acrylic. Not much difference there.
Cracking job on these monsters old boy.
Seeing the two of them on display in Cosford's "Cold War" hangar(the solo surviving Valiant is there too)
makes one realise just what big aeroplanes they were.
Thank you Mark.
