Yalovlev Yak-15 "Feather"
This kit is made by Pioneer 2 in 1/72 scale of the Yak-15 "Feather." It was first released in 1988 and it is a very simple, basic kit. It has also been boxed by Matchbox and PM Model.
The Yak-15 is one of the Soviets early jet fighters, the day it first flew, April 24, 1946 was the same day the MiG-9 first flew. The Yak-15 was second to fly because of a coin toss, the MiG-9 won the toss to fly first and became the Soviet first jet to fly. The Yak-15 is basically a Yak-3 with a German Junkers Jumo-004 axial flow jet engine. It carried many of the good flight characteristics from the piston engine Yak fighters which made the Yak-15 a good plane to train the pilots to transition into jets.

I built this kit because I wanted an easy build to continue with my early Yak jets builds. I have previously built a vacu-form MAKU Yak-17 and a KP Yak-23. Since this is a very basic and simple kit it lacks a lot of details. I went ahead and added some details into the cockpit and tried to improve the wing to body area but soon after I decided to just complete the build. Now that the build is complete I am happy it is done, sitting next to the other early Yak jets that I have recently built.
If I ever want to make another Yak-15 in 1/72, I will most likely not pick this kit again but go after Amodel's injected mold kit or since I do like vacuform builds, MAKU's vacuform kit.

Thank you!
You did an amazing job on this Yak-15, Bob @v1pro
Vacu forms are far from easy to deal with.
Thank you, John @johnb.
Shiny canopy with details in the cockpit, no visible seams on the fuselage and wings, cleanly executed colours and markings - that's top aircraft model building! Kudos.
Thank you very much, Peter @pjotri69!
Nice job, Bob! Fits right in with the others
Thank you, Gary @gwskat. It's a neat little trio.
What a great result you got from a really marginal kit, Bob (@v1pro). I forms a great addition to to pair of early jets. I had this model for a long time but figured it would be a hopeless build and got rid of it. This just shows how someone with skills and patience can overcome a poor kit. Well done.
Thank you George @gblair. Half way through the build I gave up on this kit but I am glad that I stayed with it and got it done! It does look happy hanging out with the other two Yak jets.
Very nice work , Bob @v1pro ! All three of those look great. It’s interesting to see some little known (to me) early jet fighters.
Thank you Jay @ssgt. They do look pretty cool together and look so different from the early jets from the other nations at that time.
What a great addition to your growing collection! You did a fabulous job with that Pioneer kit - I've built one or two, so I know...
Thank you Greg @gkittinger. Yes, no shake and bake on builds like this! I have seen your builds and you have made a lot of great builds on kits like this.
Fantastic job on this basic and challenging kit, Bob!
It was a pleasure to follow your thread!
Thank you for the good word and following my thread, Spiros @fiveten!

Thank you, George @blackadder57!
@v1pro - Nice work Bob. The collection looks great all together.
Thank you, Brian @brithebuilder. I hope to keep increasing my builds in my collections as time goes by.
Great job, Bob! I love the family portrait too.
Thank you John @j-healy. The family portrait shots were my favorite.
Nicely done little herd of Yaks Bob.
Thank you Allan! 🙂
