Wheels up Pearl Harbor Zero
This is the very well known and built Tamiya 1/48 A6M. I started it on December 6 to commentate the Pearl Harbor attack but due to holidays just finished it today. I had wanted to build an early livery Zero for a while.
This is an easy kit and goes together very well- except for the joint where the wings connect to the fuselage where there is an unusually big gap that calls for filling and sanding.
I used the Vallejo paint conforming to the early Japanese navy color after reading many articles and comments about this color, but it just looked too brown to my eyes. So I lightly over sprayed a very diluted combination of light gray and white so the underlying original color still shows through. I call it good enough.
Overall a fun kit with multiple decal choices.
Next up another P 38 that I will gift to a friend.
Happy 2025.
Very nice. When I built this during the last century I used Poly Scale "Old Concrete" on mine. I miss Polly Scale acrylics
Very nice model, Mark!
Happy new year!
A very nice result indeed, Mark @markhedrick
The camouflage color looks really good to my eyes.
Looks good! I like that early scheme - I need to do one like that!
