A simple 'local early tractor field show display' diorama

March 30, 2025 · in Diorama · · 18 · 111

Here is another commission project. I was given these 6 models at an exhibition, in February of this year.. Five farm and one Unimog vehicle, all models, that were given to me; as the client puts it; 'Make something out of it, and make it work together'. See the 'before' collage photo of all six vehicles and the 'after' photos of the completed commission. BTW, the client was one hundred percent satisfied, with the results.

  1. I’m not surprised your client was pleased with the display, Charles, it looks great, I particularly like the slightly muddy tyres.

  2. Very impressive work ! They look very realistically weathered .

  3. A excellent representation of tractors in their natural environment. In my travels through out the country and in rural farm land you will see old tractors collected by farmers who line them up for sale. Or they use them and park them. Some tractors as long as you have parts will run for ever if kept in good shape. Eventually, the parts and there prices become too expensive for the farmer to operate and then they get parked.

Charles (@tiking) you have a keen eye for the real world of farming equipment. The photos with the forced perspective and the back ground are very convincing and after a hard days work the equipment gets a little muddied.I have a few hours on several tractors and you have done a professional job of creating a dio. Two thumbs up. A job well done.

  4. The tractors looked nice prior to the but exceptional after the weathering, Charles @tiking
They definitely work together on this diorama, very realistic.
I fully understand that your client is extremely happy with the outcome.
    Well done.

  5. Awesome work on these, Charles.

  6. Great weathering and a very nice line-up in the dio.
I was very surprised reading "Boehringer Unimog". I didn't know up to now (thanks Google) that the first Unimogs were produced by a company named Boehringer (situated in Göppingen) - Since my childhood in the 60ties "Unimog" was related to Daimler Benz and Gaggenhausen. On the other hand I knew Boehringer (Ingelheim) only as a famous producer of pharmaceuticals. Apparently two completely different Boehringers.

  7. fantastic work! no other word

  8. Looks like many an old farm I’ve seen. Albeit somewhat more European than American with the assortment of subjects. As usual in your work these could be used as a movie set. Great attention to detail.

    Thanks for sharing.

  9. Fantastic diorama, Charles! What a departure from the original models!
