Revell 1/32 Messerschmitt Bf 109G-10 Erla
In spite of its short falls, Revell's big Bf 109G-10 kit delivers the goods.
The large tulip decal that was Maj. Erich Hartmann's recognition emblem was cut leaving only the white strips. The black areas were painted to avoid an otherwise frustrating decal application.
Great looking Gustav, Rafi @blackmopane
Excellent idea to cut the tulip decal, but even then it still is not an easy task to get it done this nicely.
Thank you, John.
Indeed, once the decals are cut, the white strips are difficult to place.
Excellent result, Rafi! Excellent idea to cut the black areas of Hartmann's tulip. Still, a very challenging job that you carried out with your usual excellence and attention to detail!
Thank you, Spiros!
Rafi (@blackmopane),
When these 1/32 kits were first released, Revell kept the prices reasonable and stuck with the tradition of their old line of 1/32nd kits. You got just enough detail to get what you paid for, or a platform that could be modified with lots of resin, PE, and now 3D-printed pieces. You can easily double or triple the original price. With COVID being over, the base price has gone up, and those price points have softened. Your sample raises the bar over some of the older Hasegawa kits, and in this scale, you can set this kit next to a Tamiya Mustang and not be ashamed. Some strong work being done here.
Thank you, Stephen.
Like you, I also noticed the low price when these kits were released and I plunged in.
wonderful work as always. Tulip looks great, and I wish I could ever get one of those spiral spinner markings to work for me - pretty tough in 1/72...
Thank you, Greg!
Yet, the size of a 1/48th Bf 109 is small and also it easily accepts spiral decals on the spinner.
Absolutely stunning build Rafi (@blackmopane) - I love it!
Thank you, Scott!
Excellent work. That's what I did with a Bf109k. It was much harder than using the decals but better looking over all. A lot of effort though.
Thank you, Dan.
This methodology is easier on the 1/48th scale.
