Trumpeter 1/32 F8F-1 Bearcat
This is my first submission to I-Modeler. This is an OOB build. This Bearcat is the Air Group Commander's aircraft of VF-19 during 1947 I enjoyed doing this kit as it is one of my favorite airplanes. Painted it with Model Master enamels thinned with lacquer retardant. Overall it was a well designed kit. I folded the wings as I felt they did not look that great in the extended position due to a sloppy fit. Actually I think it has a bit of class with the folded wings. I felt that overall there was a lot of interior build that was unnecessary and never to be seen again. I look forward to building the 1/48 Hobby Boss bearcat to compare them.
I look forward to being a part of I-Modeler and being allowed to show off some of my stuff. My model room, model cave and some of my collection.
Frank

Hi Frank the bearcat looks very well done I too love this plane and have a customer in my auto repair shop that was a test pilot for this beauty welcome and hope to see more posts
Thank you for the very nice compliment. One always appreciates compliments. I also have a very good friend that cut his early teeth on the bearcat. He says it is still one of the best airplanes he ever flew. He retired as a Navy Captain, and during the 70's was the CO of USS Kitty Hawk. He is a member of a little lunch group we call the "Military Mafia". I made an F4 for him as respect for his service.
Welcome to another builder. This is also one of my favorite aircraft & yours definitely does it proud.
I have the 1/48th kit & keep hoping we'll see some aftermarket air racer resin come along.
Hi Frank, That's a cool looking cat indeed! Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff...Something else from the vault?
