  4. i just heard on jeopardy or cash cab recently it's believed he was taken out by friendly fire...the RAF...what say yea...never heard that till now/ though i heard circumstances were mysterious as a kid...what a horrible thing for somebody to have to live down...almost like taking out Santa Claus...i'm a big Vera Lynn fan...when the lights come on again, all over the world...bless em all

    • Yes, it's now understood that the Norseman strayed into a part of the Channel where aircraft could drop unexpended ordnance. The weather was bad and they didn't see the formation of RAF bombers overhead that dropped their bombs, one of which struck the Norseman.
