Mirage IIIO HPM 1/72
Here is one small Mirage III, the O version used by the Royal Australian Air Force.
This is a reconnaissance version, with cameras under the nose cone (barely visible on the photos).
The model is in 72nd scale, made by HPM. A nice kit with some resin pieces, and without major flaws, although some putty is required here and there.
I finished it rather quickly, and mounted it on a frame, to put it on the wall of my office. Another Mirage (Belgian V version) has been made this way, it's on the last photo of the gallery.
The paint is Vallejo, the varnish too, the decals are from the box, as is the resin ejection seat. I didn't use the resin nose cone, which was badly shaped. I modified the plastic radar version that was in the box and scratched the cameras fairing.
Hope you will enjoy !
Excellent work Jerome - lovely finish and weathering in 1/72 always good to see an Aussie Mirage!
I like the painting Jérôme, very smooth and seamless, plus the authentic weathering great job!
Nice work...love the idea of that wall mounting.
Jerome, those are great! The Mirage is so sleek and a truly beautiful design.
Looks great! And that is an inventive way to mount the aircraft. When I run out of room for more display cabinets, I've got lots of wall real estate that could be covered in "framed" aircraft!
Bonjour Jérôme,
Nice work on one of my favorite airplanes! Bravo!
I had many clogging problems with Vallejo paints, even thinned with their thinner. Do you have any recommendations ?
Bonjour Stéphane,
Thank you ! For Vallejo paints, in fact I ever had a few problems with colors like white, yellow, and some greys. I always use the Vallejo thinner, and I always put some flow improver. I test and learn, I ajust the quantities of paint and thinner depending of the color and its texture : its not very helpful I am afraid?...
Ah! You challenge me ?
I will try again...
Beautiful build, and nice way to mount it!
What a clever way to display your models Jerome. They look beautiful.
🙂 … Greetings … 🙂 :
A pleasure too see this work Jérôme , the camouflage is so nicely done and your display method looks very well organized and original. Nice work overall. Thank you for the images.
77 Squadron, we used to see these fly boys back in early '80's when they came to Darwin for exercises and the air show. Awesome birds.
