Converting a Bf 109 to a Ha-1109

September 26, 2022 · in Aviation · · 22 · 0.9K

The starting point is the SBS-model resin conversion kit mentioned elsewhere on iModeler. It is designed to use Tamiyas new Bf109G-6.

Instead of filling in a lot of words here, might I interest you with a link to the full build over in the Groups section? - if so, just click on the blue text here.

Just some basics here; The HA-1109 was initially to be called the Bf-109J, and was based on a supply of 109 G-2 (or G-4) fuselages to spain in 1944.

Thank you to all who followed and commented in the topic over in Groups - it has been a pleasure to have you along for the ride!

  2. That turned out really nice, Erik. That is one of the more interesting 109 variants.

  3. A wonderful result out of an amazing job I had the pleasure to follow along!
    Congratulations my friend!

Erik, this one of a kind “beulle” is fantastic, perfectly built. The SBS conversion resin really is a high quality product on the hands of a skilled modeler. Well done my friend

    • Thank you Pedro. I do have to say the result is as good as it is due to the quality of both the kit and the AM parts - Tamiya and SBS-model really went wild on these two my friend, and the conversion is really easy and highly reccomended. An armed version next perhaps - SBS-model has a fantastic rocket and gun set for it (also fits a Buchon).

  5. A great addition to your growing 109 family! Fantastic build.

  6. Erik, @airbum, I really like this build, I went back and visited your blog. Wow lots of work and well done. Glad you stuck with it over the couple of years.

  7. An excellent conversion, Erik @airbum. This Ha1109 looks amazing. It was a pleasure to follow this conversion process. If I'm correct, the Spanish made use of this aircraft till many years after the war.

    • Thanks @johnb. The Spanish use of the "109" did indeed span a long time in various forms, one of them with RR Merlin engine as you most likely know (Battle of britain movie fame). Glad to have you along for the duration of the build in groups.

      • @airbum, as a matter of fact, I have seen those Buchons which, according to the announcer, were used for the movie. Pictures were taken in July 2019.

  8. Well done, Erik, even though this build took a while you obviously enjoyed it, that’s the most important thing.

  9. Not a fan of Ha's but your conversion was done really well, Erik! Congrats!
