I-4100 "Ushimisako" (I-400 retrofit), lets stop being serious!

December 19, 2022 · in Sci-fi · · 16 · 0.9K

I bought this model in Telford this year and I did not know about this anime series much, although I am big fan of japanese animes and mangas. (I will fill this cultural gap soon.)
When I inspected the kit, I almost immediately decided to make some changes. The original look of the model is old fashion, it might have been cool in '70, but not nowadays.
I used some leftover parts from already built kits, plastic profiles, sheets and brass tubes to give the kit different look and live.
At the end, I made up new camouflage scheme using INFINI cutting mat. It is not pure digital, but close. I guess it has no sense to use this to hide in space, but it looks nice and it will look good in my display :).

If you would like to know what some addons represent, use you imagination, because I did not had any plan or source and even I do not know what that is. ๐Ÿ™‚

Because this is that build I finish this year, let me wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and see you next year with some more navy stuff.

  1. Outstanding work and outcome! Well done, Martin.

  2. Thatโ€™s some serious creative modeling Martin! Beautiful work and kudos for the originality, thumbs up!

  3. Very cool @naviatik. I'm not familiar with the original kit so it would be difficult to know what was added/kitbashed but regardless, you did a great job. I dig the color scheme. It seems that a ship like this isn't looking to hide. The patch panels covering old battle damage help to tell that story for me.

  4. Love it too, Martin!

  5. Wonderful build, Martin @naviatik
Especially the camouflage scheme looks superb.

  6. Thank you, guys! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Martin, I think it's awesome. The digital camo is particularly nice. Sci-fi and animae kits are so much fun.

  8. Excellent! I over the past year only built 1 "serious" model, love this!

  9. Weird and wonderful update on this model, Martin, I canโ€™t help wondering what your Christmas dinner will look like.

  10. Weird and wonderful - in equal measure. Some real serious creativity on display with this one.

  11. Well, that's just cool, Martin (@naviatik). Your exquisite painting sells the whole idea.

  12. Wow Martin Dytrych (@naviatik), this is incredible. One of the best things I've seen in 2022. I really love the digital camo on it and then the pops of red. Man this is cool and you've given me a ton of inspiration. Thanks so much and again - amazing work.
