Mars Attacks!
This is my most recent commission piece for a local store. Seems like there will be more based on this one.
Definitely a fun paint project. Mars Attacks is an entertaining movie. Not too deep or anything but definitely a classic at this point.
The overall painting process was really straightforward. The only parts that were of any real concern were the addition of the green and red to the face where it felt like there was a lot of potential for things to go south and then the detail painting of the irises. The fine thread like structures in the iris are always a challenge to get to look somewhat realistic. I feel like they turned out really well though.

Fantastic sculpture, Brian @brithebuilder
To me this looks much more than straightforward painting. Absolutely beautiful paintwork. Thanks for sharing the painting process video.
@johnb - Much appreciated. I just saw it in the store, looks pretty amazing on the shelf. Somehow way cooler than just in my house.
Dark is the suede that mows like a harvest!
@mooplace - uhm... I'm really not sure what to say to that Steven... thanks... I think.
That's what the translator produced from the "Dak! Dak!" Broadcast.
Ahh, I kind of figured it was a quote from the movie, but I really wasn't sure. I guess I really do have to watch it again.
Absolutely Acking Fantastic!
@eb801 - Thanks Eric! I appreciate it.

The eyes definitely make it work, Brian, it reminds me a bit of Marty Feldman.
