Airfix Bristol Beaufort Mk.I 17/2
I have this soft spot for two engined RAF planes. Therefore, after the Airfix Blenheim and Mosquito, i decided to take on the Bristol Beaufort. I decided to do the 217 squadron scheme because i wanted to give the very dark scheme a try.
The kit is great, although it is also considerably more difficult as the Mosquito. There is so much glass to mask! The amount of detail is impressive.
I used AK interactive and Ammo Mig acrylics and some grey panel line wash and Ammo Mig dark wash.
Apparently the Beaufort crews had a 17,5% chance of surviving a tour (300 flight hours). In order to drop a torpedo they had to fly right into the flak and still remain a steady hand. These guys were tough.
Fantastic result, my friend @fxrob!
Jasou Spiros, @fiveten, thanks a lot!
A beautiful Beaufort, Felix @fxrob
First time I noticed that there is a gunner at the side of the fuselage.
Hi John @johnb, thanks for the compliment! Yes, that canopy is under the fuselage and i do wonder how they operated that machine gun down there!
Nice work and a superb result.
Thank you very much for the compliments, Tom @tcinla! I enjoyed painting that dark camouflage very much.
Excellent work, Felix! I’m a British bomber fan too.
Hi John @j-healy, isn't there something about them? Next up is a Blenheim in 48th and a Beaufighter in 72nd scale. All Airfix, of course.
very nice work and paiting!
Hi Lis @lis, thanks a lot for your kind words! I actually peeled the masking off they way you described ith with your B25, veeeery carefully with a sharp blade, it worked!
Nice to hear that it works:)
Hi Felix, I understand what you mean by a soft spot, and your enthusiasm shows in this model, it looks great.
Hi George @chinesegeorge, thanks a lot for your kind feedback! Yes, i do like them a lot. Might just do the Airfix B25 next!
I'm glad that my tips works! What paints did You use?
Hi Lis @lis, mostly AK interactive acrylics and some Ammo mig acrylics.
