So!.... how about a bit of a teaser?..........
this is a repop of the Monogram 1/24 scale Scarab rear engine race car. I built this same model years ago, and I built a glue bomb. Now I want to set the record right.
More to come...

Gee...with a little work, that could be the "Bat Mobile" ... oh wait, they MAKE a kit of that already (never mind). I like that color, though.
You know, If I added some wings and painted it black...?
Thanks Craig.
I can! Wait to see what you have in store...
Thanks Frank, You know I will have to do something.
I just had to do a basic inexpensive kit for fun.

Nice eye candy Steve. All it needs is Heather Locklear behind the wheel. 😉 Awesome!
Oooo! That would be nice.

Nice metallic effect
Thanks Bernd. Next is one coat of Klear, add decals, and about three coats of Klear for good measure.

Looking very good, Steve. From my side of the net almost flawless and perfect. I get here a lot of inspiration to do some automotive for myself.
Can t wait to see the finish, which will be a potential winner !
Looks like it's going to be a nice model of an interesting prototype, Steve, but, why didn't you post it in the Automotive Group as a work in progress?
You are right George. I will post my follow up there. I just got carried away in all of the excitement. This a fun little kit.

Is this the old Monogram slot car kit?
Yes it is George and I happen to have a full and correct slot car chassis for it. But that belongs to another project.

It's on the way to stardom. Whose paint did you use. Looks like Tamiya Mica Blue.
Right color call, but I used Testors 1639 Sapphire Blue Metalic. Which is a very close color to the Mica Blue.
Thanks Al. I am getting a lot of enjoyment out of this little kit.

Cool looking car Steve, has dead Hollywood star written all over it..lol
thanks Rick. I think you were thinking about the silver Porsche Speedster driven by James Dean.

Say, wasn't that car on an episode of CHiPs?
I didn't see that episode Mike. I will have to take a look.

Very nice, Steve. I'll be following along, as mine is still sitting in the box. I'll do one of AJ's o'course, probably Nassau or Daytona. There's some nice reference on line. Email me, and I'll sned you what I have, if your interested in duplicating the real deal.
Will do Joe.I would like to see that photos or what addresses you have. Thanks

I remember racing (slot racing, I mean) this one in the sixties.
That will be a nice build for sure.
Cheers,
Jamme
The old school slot car racing was fun and affordable back then. There were a few really nice tracks here in Southern California. One had a 88 foot straight that went into a steep banked right hand turn.
