Eduard 1/48 Messerschmitt Me109G-6

September 10, 2023 · in Aviation · 10 · 294

Eduard 1/48 Messerschmitt Me109G-6 flown by Ofw Alfred Surau 9/JG3 Bad Worishofen, Germany 1943. Surau last saw combat on October 14th (famous Schweinfurt raid) in this aircraft, when it was hit by B17 defensive fire from his 46th and last victory. As that same B17 went down, he too bailed out but died from his wounds the same day. May they all RIP.

The eduard kit is superb with those wonderful peeling decals which work great. The only problem being the kits yellow 6, which was far too pale. I replaced it with decals from spares. Perfect match. Very enjoyable build.

    Great scheme and perfectly applied.

  3. You don't see that scheme done too often. Great result.

  4. Very nice result there Paul!
The Regensburg paint scheme might look the simpler of the 3 schemes made by the equal number of main factories that produced the Me 109 G, but I found it be the most challenging to reproduce accurately. Surau’s machine is also one of the most colourful Gustavs and quite pleasing overall. Good work

Here’s a pic from that scheme I made based on the Tamiya kit

  8. Great colour scheme.

  9. Looks very nice. Awesome paint job too!

  10. Good looking 109, and I like the "eyeball" scheme for the G6 - really accentuates those bulges.
