Aeroplast Mi-2 Hoplite, 1/48 scale
Hello iModeler! I realized I hadn't posted pics of this build, even though I finished it late last year. This is Aeroplast's Mi-2 Hoplite helicopter. I had fun building this kit, although some of the parts were a bit too delicate for my clumsy hotdog fingers.
I used a resin main rotor head from Reskit, Quinta 3d cockpit decals, tried my hand at cutting masks and painting rather than using decals, and added brake lines to the landing gear struts using lead wire and Tamiya tape. I also made some upgrades in 3d and printed them out. Those parts include the external fuel tanks, main and nose wheels, and engine exhausts.
Like I said, this build was fun but there were a few areas that I wasn't completely happy with (errors on my part), so I have ordered another kit so that I can have a do-over. I have also corrected the angle of the main landing gear wheels since taking the pictures.
If anyone is interested the 3d parts I made are now available from Phase Hangar Resin https://phasehangarresin.com/collections/48001-1-48/products/48178-mi-2-hoplite-update-set-aeroplast
Anyways, thanks for looking and as always I am grateful for any feedback and critique so that I can make the next one better.
Cheers!
Amazing job on a not so easy kit, Ramon! Great 3D upgrades!
Well done, this is a fantastic looking Mi-2!
thanks Spiros! I am very appreciative of you stopping by to have a look. Cheers!
Looks to be a very nice build from what I can tell. Paint finish, weathering, etc. are splendid. Well done.
thank you!
This is a beautiful Mi-2 in Polish scheme, Ramon @anvil6
Besides your excellent modelling skills, your photography skills are amazing as well.
Well done.
thanks dude!
Not an easy project but you have pulled it off beautifully.
Thanks Tom! I had a lot of opportunity to redo some of the stuff i messed up. My next one will be better.
It looks great in the photos, hard to improve on perfection.
you are very kind George, thank you!
I'm not much of a rotorhead, but the paint and finishing work on this are excellent! The overall muted tone of the finish is just excellent. Well done.
thanks Greg!
Nice work on this. Russian helos are more visually interesting than western models. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful build, Ramon. A very interesting subject.
And brilliant photographic work.
