1/72 Fw-190 D-9

February 6, 2013 · in Aviation · · 10 · 3.1K

This Dora is finished as an aircraft belonging to JG26 during 1944-45.

The model is the offering built straight from the box with a set of Eduard seatbelts added.

All markings were painted on with Eduard masks, using an Aeromaster decal sheet as a guide. I really liked how the painted markings turned out, although I regret using a mask for the smaller Bf-109 to paint the tail marking.

  1. Very well done Anders! I like it a lot!

  2. Aren't mottles fun in 72nd scale. Yours are very well done.

  3. When I first saw your pics, I thought that was good work. The I noticed the scale. Now I think that is EXCEPTIONAL work. Very nice build, Anders. :0

  4. I'll agree - if the work was 1/48 it would be very good. That it is 1/72 makes it truly exceptional.

  5. Thanks all for the comments, and I am glad you like it even more because fo the scale!
And yes, when the airbrush and paint cooperate (not always the case) mottles in 72nd scale are indeed fun to do. 🙂

  6. that is a good looking Dora!...the more I see 1/72 planes the more I like them...maybe is time for me to stick in only one scale!

    cheers

  7. Very nice Dora Anders and in my favorite scale!
May I ask what paint you used? My airbrush and (acrylic) paint definitely do NOT always want to cooperate...

    • Thanks Peter!
My memory has faded but beleive these were all Tamiya XF paints.
I never got around to applying any dark washes and stuff so all shading was done with the airbrush and heavily thinned paints.
      Thanks again!
