1/48 F-80's

November 17, 2016 · in Aviation · · 10 · 2.4K

I know these aren't exactly accurate, but it was fun to build and play around with markings, colors etc.

019 is the Monogram kit, 014 is the Lindberg one.

I hope you like πŸ™‚

  1. Did you paint over the canopies (because the interior was rather sparse) or did they come like that?

  2. Hi Craig πŸ™‚ I painted over the canopies

    • That's what I should've done on some of mine - either because the interior was terrible (or... more likely), I messed up the clear part somehow. πŸ™
No worries, though. It gives it that "Desktop Model" look.

  3. Nice brace of P-80s, good looking stand.

  4. The Lindberg F-80 is one of the original plastic model kits, with their Fleet sub and the Stearman PT-17. Compared to the Monogram, you can tell its an early bird.
You've got a nice comparison of F-80s from the earliest days.
    Anyone built the Hobbyboss?

  5. Planes on a pole, what's not to like. Both look really good Troy.

  6. Six years on and this pairing still looks good, Troy. I picked up a second-hand Lindberg F-80 last month and hope to finish it as well as you did yours. Congratulations!

  7. Thank you Christopher! Happy building. Be sure to share pics...
