Hi all,

I picked up building models again a few years ago after an absence of some 30 odd years.
Paints, tools and especially the kits improved substantially over the years, I can say.

Initially I started building a few 1/32 scale kits because of the great amount of detail. However they have a big disadvantage as they simply eat up too much space displaying them.
So I decided to sell the whole lot and I switched to building 1/48 scale kits.

Currently I'm working on a series of aircraft that flew or still fly for the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF).
However as the number of planes grows they get harder to find though!

Happy modeling and greetings from the Netherlands!

Hi all, Here’s my rendition of a T-33A of the Royal Netherlands Airforce (RNLAF). First a bit of history of the T-bird in Dutch service … The T-33s became operational as from in 1953 with RNLAF mainly for flight training. The aircraft [...]

RNLAF Percival Proctor III 1/48 (Dora Wings DW48006)

Hi all, as far as I can see this is the first post of a Percival Proctor on iModeler. I have to admit that I’ve never heard of this aircraft myself before, but in my quest for 1/48 scale aircraft that served in the Royal Netherlands Air [...]

The RNLAF F-86F Thunderstreak

Hi all, Here’s my rendition of the RNLAF F-84F Thunderstreak. Hope you like it. The kit is K48068 from Kinetic. As it is a straightforward OOB build the shape of the air intake is not 100% correct. I know there’s an aftermarket [...]

The Fokker D.XXI of LVA

Hi all, This is another kit I built last year. There are several things that could have been done better, but still I think it’s a lovely little plane. The kit is a Special Hobby 48181 and built OOB. Hope you like it. A bit of [...]

RNLAF Noorduyn AT-16 Harvard IIB

Hi all, This time not an RNLAF fighter, but an aircraft that was mainly used for training purposes. However, this particular aircraft which flew with 306 Sqn at Deelen AFB was used for photo reconnaissance tasks from the late 50’s until [...]

RNLAF Spitfire Mk. IX 1/48

Here’s another OOB build. The kit is Italeri’s 2696 Spitfire Mk. IXc "Beer Truck“. A relatively simple kit, but fun to build. Hope you like it! A bit of history on the Spitfire in Dutch service below. After WW2, the Air [...]

The North American F-86K(aasjager) of the RNLAF (1956-1964)

This kit from Special Hobby sure has it's challenges. Most difficult part was connecting the wings to the fuselage as the fitting was quite dramatic. All in all, I am happy with the result. What do you all think? Below a little history on [...]
