I mainly build in 1/72 scale and 1/144 for airliners.
I prefer them big, so multi-engined transports, bombers, special mission aircraft are the go. I also like to build modern RAAF and US Military, Finnish Air Force subjects.
This is another Hasegawa P-C kit converted to AP-3C configuration. It is portrayed immediately before to retirement in late 2018. I used various parts of an AP-3C conversion set and added other scratch built parts to get this result. The majori[...]
This is another P-3 I finished, in fact, this was completed before the AP-3C. Converted from the Hasegawa P-3C kit to a P-3B using the Hamilton Hobbies conversion set. I also used the Hamilton Hobbies Weapons bay. Decals are again from DekLs for[...]
I am back with a Hasegawa P-3 build. This is an AP-3C circa 1999-2000 when A9-757 was painted in 60th Anniversary markings. The kit was modified to partial AP-3C standard using the Hamilton Hobbies AP-3C conversion set and images and drawings f[...]
This is the 1/72 Academy PBY-5A converted to a PB2B-2 in QANTAS markings (by Hawkeye Models Australia) with the Red Roo Conversion set. First completion for 2018.
I managed to finish 14 models for the year. Some were a concerted effort to reduce the number on the shelf of doom. The majority are 1/72 except for the Mirage (1/48) and USS Excelsior (1/1000).
The C-17 came very close, but I got preoccupied wi[...]
Welsh Models are known for the vacform/resin kits. This kit was a challenge in some areas, in particular getting a solid join between the vacform fuselage and resin wing roots. The other issue I had was the amount of nose weight required to coun[...]
This is the Revell B767-300 (KLM boxing) built in Australian Airlines colour. I built it out of the box except for the decals which came from Draw Decal. A fairly simple build until you reach the fuselage marking. Fortunately, Draw Decal supply [...]
This is the Italeri KC-135R built out of the box. I used a mixture of kit decals and those from a Wolfpak sheet. I attempted to build this (foolishly) as part of a club Blitz build over a weekend. I almost got there too. A couple of weeks later [...]
Having served in the RAAF and worked on the Falcon 900 business jet used as a VIP transport at no 34 Squadron I had to have a model of one. At the time I started this project there were no 1/72 kits available (July 2004).
I found out that anothe[...]
As you may have figured out by now, I like to build larger aircraft types in 1/72.
This is the Italeri C-130E/H kit (1/72) built as a C-130A from 36SQN RAAF. Decals are from an Aussie Decals sheet and the A model propellers and fuel tanks come [...]
