As threatened here is the wheel progress :). I at first was nervous about them as there was a lot of fitting and filing and carving but the came out ok. I dont like the material they are made of. They are a pressed high density wood so there is no grain and CA glue sucked right into the so I had to use carpenter glue, which was slow to dry. After they dried i went out to dad’s tools and found a half round file to put the scallops on the wheel, then I hade to file down the spokes ….first pic on the left is all filed the wheel on the right is not so there is the comparison, the I had to add the rubber strip for the “tire” and the last pic is of them all stained ned a bit of black touch up

Next up is the front suspension and fifth wheel it went reasonable well considering the awful white metal. I installed it then realized I forgot to add the shackles :(. So I prepped them and put them on would have been easier to do before I installed the assembly but oh well 🙂

This is a very detailed kit, Cricket (@bikequeen), and it is really looking nice. You will be a certified wood and metal worker when you are done.

@bikequeen - It really is a complex looking kit Cricket. Seems like you're doing a fantastic job with it.

@brithebuilder i guess it is the hard part is yet to come…the glass and the framing for it will be a pain. Then the PE scroll work around it not sure how to attach it. The carpenter glue I have it’s holding well on the gloss paint and the CA is to runny

It is interesting that the hearse also includes a casket, Cricket (@bikequeen). As I recall, the model is 1:12, perhaps you can find a figure to inhabit the casket?

@gblair yeah I thought so too! I also considered not using it….or putting a skeleton in it peeking out 🙂

Hi Cricket (@bikequeen): Hadn't thought about a skeleton. That would be cool. How about a "walking dead" zombie sort of guy, or girl?
