    @tcinla @airbum @johnb @stephen-w-towle @fiveten I was taken decision. Dragon Flight. I hope you like it. I was thinkink a lot what plane will be good. Maybe it's a bit of laziness that I didn't fight the huge shark teeth decals, but I don't know if I really liked them. In addition, in the report of the some other pilots, Robert Oestreicher did not fight, but escaped into the clouds, and the shootings were made up. We will probably never know the truth, although Lt Robert O. reportedly had a tendency to color his performance. This plane was gen Joseph John Kruzel machine of The 9th Squadron 49th Pursuit Group and entered combat on March 14. 9th Squadron had some veterans from Java, and was defending Darwin.

    @lis - most likely, the Dragon Flight marking came after the red dot was removed from the insignia. You can do yours the same way they were done at Darwin - with a paint brush! - you can even leave it possible to see bits of the dot through the paint, and you will score "extra points for accuracy."

    You have done really nice work on this model.

    @tcinla I'm glad that you like my work! Set of decals had four white dots (half transparent) - producent suggest it to use to mask red dots to make effect of lightly visible red dot (painted by brush). It was on one of paitings no. 2 from this sheet. I can use it.

    @lis - go with painting them over and you'll have them from May-July 1942, when they were starting to win.

    @tcinla I am a bit afraid of such an invasive practice of painting on decas πŸ™‚ I will think πŸ™‚

    I found that Red dots was repainted in may 1942:

    @tcinla

    Mabye if Dragon Flight Operated between march to may form Dawin had red dot on star, as suggest DK-Decals? my observations show that the red dot decreased its diameter against the regulations, to finally disappear. There are three types of sizes on the decal set.

    @lis - but it might not have had the green dragon before late May. It's really not a problem to do this. fine-tip brush, thinned paint.

    @tcinla Yes, that's an important point. I have to sleep with it πŸ™‚ So I wonder why the manufacturer suggests such painting and whether he has any documents for it. In sets entitled: Warhawk over Pacific, and Darwin Defenders are also painting from Dragon Flight without red dot (but different number of plane # 85 Tarhell and 80 # without name.)

    I think that when I paint the decal I will fail because it will be too different from the decal. I think it remains to make a new model ... Well, I'm still learning and each model gives me new knowledge about the original. I would have to see it live, such a painting effect.

    PS. What brand of white Paint did you suggest? I think the solvent should be gentle so as not to spoil the decal. Maybe Vallejo?

    @v1pro @airbum @stephen-w-towle @tcinla @ssgt @johnb @fiveten After fitting canopy. In close option you need push canopy down to good fit. I don't like force solutions so i didn't even try it and put it open right away. At least in the closed option, when it is only placed on the edges of the cockpit, the part is moved much higher than the windscreen.
