The finish line is right around the corner. I just need to add the pitot tube, prop and antenna rigging.
    And fix that tire chunk.

Waiting to cross the finish line, Eric.
    Looking very cool!

Looking good, like a late-war, well-used war horse!

  • Louis Gardner said 7 months, 1 week ago:

This is looking VERY good !!! I like it…………. a whole lot.

    Thanks again for the comments.

Getting real close to the finish line, but I broke off the antenna while rigging it. To be honest, the kit antenna mast is extremely thin and flexes like crazy if any tension it applied to it so it’s better left alone. So I did what i always do when this happens: grab a thin piece of solid brass rod, hammer it flat, dremel it to shape (above), and superglue it back in place. Two steps forward and one step back!!!

    And….presto!

Mast and wire back in place. All good now. Off to the finish line!

    FINALLY!
A couple of touch ups and it’s checkered flag time! Next…photos and posting.

Eric (@eb801), Great stuff – looking forward to your final pictures!

  • Louis Gardner said 7 months ago:

That’s a great idea with the brass rod to make a metal antennae. I think we all have had problems with this before. That will stop it from happening.

You have done a wonderful job with your Ki-84. I too am looking forward to seeing your final pictures …………… 🙂

Finished at last. I’ll be posting the final photos on the home page real soon. Thanks to all of you who took a look at this process and made encouraging comments.

    Hi Eric @eb801.
First, your antenna mast and wiring turned out a masterpiece.
    Onto the finished Hayate now:
This is a wonderful build! It just looks homogenously nice in all respects, weathering included.
Thanks for having me as passenger to this great ride.
    “See you” at the Headlines!

Spiros- that’s quite a compliment. Very much appreciated. You’ve turned out quite a few masterpieces yourself. Thanks for following my build and riding along in the cockpit.
