    Thank you so much for all the postive feedback gentlemen.
    It really makes me eager to speed up a bit, but I do not yet master the techniques well enough to speed up.
    As a matter of fact, better a slow but nicer build instead of a speedy build which you in the end don't like.

    Last week I spent time to get the floats, nacelle with struts and the underwing painted. After this the floats were finally attached to the underwing and the rigging was put on tension.
    The rigging was painted with a silver artist marker afterwards.
    The floats with their rigging did go on pretty well I would say.
    Only thing that bothers me a bit is the top side color. Searching the internet I do see Walruses have this kind of color combination, but it looks different than what I see on the box art.
    Would like some opinion from you my friends on the chosen colors.

    Super job on the rigging John. I fully agree on a kit like this one to go slow and make it get the attention it destrves. After all it is a bit pricey, but that is for a reason, and to get the full from it it looks like you are on the right path. As for the colors there has been a great many opinions on the matter through time, and whatever you end up with is the correct choice! I am sure someone out there has done their own research and are able to fill you in on some recent research.

    Looks really good, John (@johnb). You certainly have the patience needed to do this sort of work.

    Superb job so far, my friend @johnb!

    About the colors, I had a look at the Airfix instructions; I spotted color variations in all three of them! They are not the same!

    Then I had a look at my SMER one: it might be awfully old mold (and possibly awful in general...), but the latest camo instructions are not bad; they might be of some help, so I took two pics of the two camo options provided.

    My feeling tells me to trust the Airfix instructions: I would be very surprised to find out they goofed in THAT subject.

    Looking forward to your progress!

    @airbum
    Thanks a lot Erik. It is a great kit to learn some new techniques, and that will just take time.

    @gblair
    Thanks George. Without patiance this kit is doomed to fail.

    @fiveten
    Thanks a lot Spiros. Appreciate your help. I did search for color pictures of Walrusses on the internet and found quite some differences between them, likely also because color pictures at that time were not of such a high quality. As you said, best to follow the Airfix instructions.
    Just wondering, have you build a Walrus yourself as well, or is it still in stock?

    I've got two SMERs in stock, my friend @johnb! Exactly the same!
    They are ancient (they have the insignia roundels and codes molded, can you believe it?), but have very good Propacteam decals. That were very cheap, as well: I paid only 15 euros for BOTH of them!
    Might start one some day!
    Looking forward to your great build!

    Another update on this great plane.

    While building it, I start to love this plane and its shape more and more.

    Since I was not satisfied with the outcome of the colors, I did a repaint. The colors looked much better but unfortunately after removing the tape also a part of the paint came loose. So sanding and painting again was the only option.

    The colors do look a bit dark due to the white background.

    Eventualy I was satisfied with the results and rigging was attached to the upper part of the bottom wing before glueing together both halves of the bottom wing.

    Now that the bottom wings are attached to the fuselage it really begins to look like a Walrus.

    As can be seen from the pictures, a lot of wires need to be attached to the bottom part of the upper wing, which will be the next phase.

    Need to find a good way to have the wings correctly levelled first.

    Currently she looks a bit like spiderwoman.

    John: That last photo is really cool. She really does look like spider woman.
    Didn’t you say this is your first rigging project? Looks terrific. I gather the secret is “take your time”.

    Wow John, well done and the aircraft is looking wonderful! I am glad you know where the rigging wires go! Looking forward to the next update!

    Not an easy choice for a "first rigged biplane." Your work is looking really good on this, @johnb. You're headed toward a remarkable result.

    This is great progress and a truly nice result so far, my friend @johnb!
    It indeed starts to look like a Walrus!
    Looking forward to it!

    You have a lot more patience than I do, John (@johnb). All of this work will be worth it.

    @eb801, thanks.
    Correct, my first rigging and first bi-plane build, I definitely have burnt my fingers on this one.

    @adrianstarling, thanks a lot.
    Airfix provided a nice layout of the rigging, although I noticed that in real there were more wires present. I added those as well.

    @tcinla, thank you.
    Would have been wise indeed to start with an easier bi-plane. It is becoming a real challenge at this moment.

    @fiveten, thank you.
    Next will be the lower part of the upper wing so I can attach all the wires before closing up the entire upper wing.

    @airbum, thanks.
    Hopefully my daughter doesn't recognize it as a real spider and tries to smash it.

    @gblair, thank you.
    Patience is indeed required for this one. Sometimes it is difficult to spend a lot of time while hardly making progress.
