Really nice work, Martin. Beware that the cowling is incorrect in shape, to the degree it is hard to fix. I think there are some resin correction cowlings that were available, but since this kit has been off the market a few years they might not be now. If you putty the inside of the front of the cowling, you may be able to sand it into an acceptable shape. Given all the other great work you are doing here, it's definitely worth the trouble to do this.

Just saw the Obscureco did a cowling, which means it might still be available, or Chris Bucholz might mold you one if you ask nice.

Such a crisp build Martin (@naviatik). I'll be strapped in to follow your progress, and can only echo John's comment.

Martin- having built several Hobbycraft/Academy Bearcats, correcting the cowling as Tom suggests makes a world of difference.

Are there any additional photos of your progress?

Hi Eric, no other pictures so far.
This is what I have just done.
I started with cowling reshaping today. I am just waiting for Miliput is dry enough, meanwhile I am having a lot of fun with stock engine. I figured out how to make it close to original enough - I hope there won't be much difference between resin and mine. It looks very promising and it would be visible just from front.

    Hello guys,

I can see it is a while when I was here. I have some update, I hope you will like it.

Well, I finished working on legs and stabilizer. And because there was really bad tailwheel, I made new one.

Also there is very inaccurate exhaust part, which is really useless. I cut new metal sheets covering exhausts and placed them on fuselage. I plan to put exhausts after the painting.

When I was checking that I did not forget something, I noticed that the plane I am building is different version. All photos I have found showing version F8F-2P - photographic reconnaisance aircraft. I do not know why I did not realized that earlier...

I am not an expert to Bearcats and I did not have any details of structure on left side which looked strange, so I started to ask around and got some nice advices. It turned that it is camera with special anti oil cover. Also, this version has much taller tail... bad news.

Therefore I made camera cover on the left side, plus I drilled small hole, where I plan to put a bit modified transparent stripe representing camera window. But I do not care about tail size. This would be too much.

However, I think I improved this kit beyond my original intention anyway.
