Ain't that the coolest scratchbuild? Morne, you rock big time. (I know I've said something like that before, but rest assured it is not only empty words - I like your build a lot)

Thanks Erik. I appreciate the nice comment. I must say this is the most scratchbuilding I ever did. It is a very therapeutic exercise if you are an obsessive compulsive individual. Lol

Again, lost of words, Morne @mornem!
    Amazing scratchbuilding!

Can imagine your frustation on these micro scale parts, Morne.
But you keep on impressing us with the results.
    Fantastic.

Thanks Spiros and John! The thought of spending another week scratchbuilding all this detail again on the other landing gear and doors is a daunting task. Getting it exactly the same as the ones I already detailed will be a challenge.

Next up on my list of scratchbuilt details will be an open nose section displaying the radar equipment bay as well as the radar dish. The few reference photos I have show this area to by a rather 'busy' area consisting of radar gear, wiring and electronic / avionics equipment. This is a rather small area with lots of details. Another small space to contend with. Wish me luck as I start with another piece of modeling madness.

Man, you are a glutton! My solution to being pulled into the scratch building black hole is to build them in-flight, so all the wheels are up and access panels closed! I like to promote that I prefer to see them the way they were designed to function, but perhaps it's just that I'm chicken to jump into that kind of detail! Your efforts and results are simply amazing!

Thanks Greg. The more scratchbuilding I do, the more I challenge myself to take it a step further. It is sometimes frustrating but very rewarding in the end. Small attention to details for me adds to the visual appeal of the end product. You should give it a go !

    That is another challenge, Morne.
However, looking to your previous tiny and detailed parts, I'm confidend that also this radar will look fantastic.

Thanks John. I will start tomorrow in earnest on my trip to the land of Lilliput. The radar dish components will present the biggest challenge for sure.

The past week did not offer much bench time due to being back at work. Needless to say I punished myself trying to scratchbuild the radar antenna, radar dish and electronic equipment behind the dish. Problems were compounded by having to cram as much details into a very small space that would fit neatly inside the radome.

After many failed attempts, I managed to get close to what I consider acceptable. The radar dish was salvaged from a Revell / Monogram P-61. The radar antenna was replaced by a pin. Behind the pin head I placed a piece of insulation from copper wire. To the area behind the radar dish I attached 11 pieces of Evergreen styrene to simulate electrical equipment. The next step will be adding electrical wiring to the area behind the radar dish.

Thanks Erik. Still long way to go. Wiring will make it look suitably busy.

Looking really great, my friend @mornem!
I love all these improvisations! (I used F-104 tires to recreate the Ki-45 oil coolers... 🙂 )
Looking forward to your great project!
