as we continue the count Farbton 74 is airbrushed

As can be seen some masking was removed for the 74 as there will be a need for some large overpainted areas later on

With this done it will be de-masked to start mottling – exciting!

Do not know if I can get anything done before next weekend, but that will just make the paint dryer – stay tuned, feel free to comment

With the 74 airbrushed in two thin layers it was time to take the masks off. Well, CA glued PE flaps are fragile, and one broke off rather easily.

I may leave the flap off, but I have not come to a final decision on that yet. No matter what it is now on towards some very interesting mottling

Floating masks!

In order not to repeat the disastrous patch on the Italian 109 I try some floating masks

It is just a piece of cardboard cut to size, with another piece of cardboard underneath with a larger opening. It is as simple as it sounds.

I will have to use a clamp on one of them as it is lifted a bit high by the deflected aileron.

And it is off to load the airbrush with a few drops of thin Schwartzgrün

The crosses has now been deleted

OK – they never really were added, but the patches that illustrates the overspray worked just fine.
1. I may yet go back and make a mask for the fuselage bits. . .
I think this method will be used a lot in the future – really easy to make, and a minimum of effort too.

Some more overspray to follow – and the mottling too. Tune in again soon
