Bill Whisner’s Ponies

Tamiya P-51B to do 352nd FG ace Bill Whisner's "Princess Elizabeth," a name he put on to celebrate the visit to the group by Princess Eilzabeth, later Elizabeth II. That fall, he traded up to a P-51D-10 he named "Moonbeam [...]

Shangri-La P-51B Mustang

Here's my take on Don Gentile's P-51B Mustang "Shangri-La" based on Tamiya's 1/48 scale kit. This rendition does not include all of the "kill" markings and shows the spinner with the two-tone red/white finish as the [...]

Scarlet Kate and Little Joe

I built these two 1/72 P-51Bs to compare the Academy and Revell kits. I enjoyed both builds, although the Academy kit – finished as 'Scarlet Kate' – was perhaps the easiest of the two in terms of fit and ease of construction. I also [...]

1/48 Monogram P-51B “Ole II”

Here's my favorite Monogram kit of all time, the 1/48 P-51B. Over the years I must have built at least six of these (with another 5 in the stash). It is the original mold kit, not the Pro-Modeler re do that came later. It was built pretty [...]
