October Imodeler “Random Award”

November 30, 2016 in News

I want to take this time and thank the staff of Imodeler.

I was chosen as the lucky winner for the month of October for the random award. I had by chance joined Imodeler earlier that month. Since then I have made some new friends and have received a very warm welcome. I appreciate the opportunity to post photos of my completed builds and write articles about them on this website.

I received the model a few days ago. I would have posted a few photos sooner, but my wife has been ill and I didn’t have anyone to take my picture holding the award. Thankfully the misses is feeling much better now. She took the photo a few minutes ago. I’m posting them now to carry on the tradition as others have in the past.

The award for this month was the 1/48 Airfix Boulton Paul Defiant. It is a WONDERFUL kit. Once this kit hit the market I knew that somehow I just had to get one. I was fortunate enough to win one instead !!!!! My birthday is right around the corner so it was perfect timing………….. Thanks Martin !!!!!

I plan on building this as soon as I get a few other projects on my work bench finished first. I will start a build thread and post the progress as I go along.

Thank you again !!!!!!

  1. Congrats, Louis…nice choice! Hope you and yours are well. All the times I’ve been to NSB, never saw one of those shirts (now I gotta get one).

    • Thanks Craig !!! The shirts are upstairs in the office. Mine has a F4U-5NL on the back side of the shirt. They offer them in various colors and with different planes on the back. One of these days I’ll get one with the F6F Hellcat on the back. Each one of their shirts has artwork related to a different restoration that they have completed.

  2. A nice kit Louis, should build well.

  3. Expecting great things from you with this, Louis!

  4. Glad to see it has arrived safely – great photo, and from what I’ve heard a lovely kit of an exciting aircraft. I also must say I really like the new Airfix box art!

    • Thanks again Martin.

You all have really made my upcoming birthday special. I really like the artwork too. It reminds me of how things were on model box tops as a kid. It was a much simpler time.

Back then the art was what sold me on a kit. My first model was the Revell 1/32 P-40 “Flying Tigers”. Just the picture alone with the shark toothed plane ripping through a flight of enemy planes was what sold me……..It was just SO cool…….

      Thanks a million my friend.

  5. Louis, good stuff! From what I’ve seen, it builds up very well.

  6. Goood choice, Lou and enjoy this one 🙂

  7. Congratulations Louis – well done!

  8. I’m happy for you Louis and look forward to seeing the build…congratulations.

    • Thanks Jim. I hope my build meets everyone’s expectations and I don’t make some foolish mistake during the process. I’ll be sure to post some in progress pictures along the way. Thanks again friend.

  9. Congratulations Louis! 🙂
