Seamus what a brilliant idea of showing the stock kit along side of your build. It does a great job of showing off your modifications and improvements on your kit. Good to see you back on the boards and working a little of your magic.

Well, the Monogram Typhoon is off the shelf again and the saga continues. This project is close to completion and now I have to decide if I want to leave it "as is" or put it in a small vignette.

1. For such an old kit, the wing to fuselage fit was spot on. Just a bead of Tamiya Thin, a few swipes with a sanding stick, and we have contact.
1. For the life of me, I could not find any reference photographs of this area except for three blurry black and whites. I did what I could with what I had. Not very likely that this is accurate but it is far better than leaving this area blank.
1. A new radiator flap and a piece of .15 thousandth plastic rod for an actuator and I have added a bit more character to my Typhoon.
1. I scooped out a little bowl in the fuselage with the tip of a drill bit and epoxied in an MV lens for the lower navigation light.

2. This little oval is for the boarding stirrup which I still have to scratch build.
1. Here she is fresh out of the paint booth. All you are seeing here (right down to the serial numbers) is paint. I used a combination of aftermarket and homemade masks plus about half a roll of Tamiya tape.

2. At one point, my Typhoon looked as though it had been mummified. However, the results were worth the effort. The only decals I will use are the data stencils.
1. Right before decaling and weathering.
1. Laid the data stencil decals (of which there were very few). Did a little weathering with pastels, local washes, and colored pencils. I also added a few more parts.

1. Very pleased with how the landing gear bays turned out.

Humm 5 years on a model? Been there but not quite as good as yourself. This is a pleasure to read and watch. I wouldn’t be able to tell this is the old Monogram kit just by looking at those latest pics. Genuine good scratch build in several details plus a great paint work so far. Looking forward to see it done Seamus…vignette or no vignette

Well, this has been a little side project that I work on between bigger projects and commission builds plus work, family and life in general. So it has been on and off the shelf for so many years. This time around I am going to see it through to completion. Stay tuned.

Thank you for your interest, gentlemen. I have decided to put the Typhoon in a vignette along with a few figures and maybe a vehicle.

Looks great, Seamus (@seamus1). Monogram and Revell are still my favorite kits and with a little TLC will build into a great model. Cheers.
