1/48th Tamiya Komatsu G40
This is the 1/48th scale Tamiya Komatsu G40 Bulldozer. I finished earlier this year, I completed most of it in one weekend. It is really a fun little kit to build, and as usual with Tamiya well engineered.
A friend of mine once told me never put a model on a table without putting it on a base. So it is my practice to always make a base for a kit. This one I wanted to put it in natural settings, but keep it simple. I made the palm fronds from feathers and the base material is Durham's Rockhard Putty with sand on it.
I had fun with the weathering. I used pastel washes, as well as oil paint, along with sponging for the chips. I was happy with the results, but have seen a lot of pretty awesome builds of this little kit.
Hey...neat little kit - I've never seen one before (built or otherwise). Very unique subject matter. I like that. Nice job on the diorama as well.
Thanks Craig, I won the kit at a local contest and had a blast building it. The diorama really is just the base, I have a picture from the internet of palm trees propped up in the backround to get rid of the white backround.
Very nice work on something that definitely qualifies as "obscure." The diorama base is really well thought out.
Thanks Tom, it was a real enjoyable weekend build. As slow as I build I love these little kits by Tamiya, they build up quick and look great.
