Eduard 1/48th Nieuport 11 'Bebe' Profipack

November 28, 2012 · in Aviation · · 3 · 3.4K

Hello iModelers!

I thought I would initiate my participation with some images of my most recent Nieuport build. Great little kit with no serious fit issues, but- as with all Nieuports I've built- the cockpit benefits from a little extra work. This one has a scratchbuilt lower cockpit area and some copper wire. The remote trigger wire, interior bracing wires, and rigging were made from synthetic hair extensions from Sally Beauty Supply.

Doped linen color is Floquil Butternut, highlighted with their Antique White. Tires painted in Floquil Primer Grey. Propeller is Humbrol Dark Brown. Kit decals for Escadrille N.12 laid down fine with a little Microscale Decal Set. Cowling is Alclad Bright Aluminum, other metal bits are various colors from the Testors Metalizer line.

  1. "Da Chief" presents another winner. 🙂

I'd love to see what you would do with a WNW kit, Erik. Have you ordered a D.VII yet?

  2. Tomorrow is payday, Tom! WNW is thrashing my hobby piggy releasing all these kits in the run-up to Christmas. If they would time their releases for early Spring and late Summer then I'd be able to collect them aggressively.

Thanks for your kind comments on the N.11!

  3. Erik, this is beautiful work! I've always held this aircraft as one of my favorite aircraft of the bi (and tri) plane era.
