1/48 Eduard Spitfire IXc
Here she is, 32 days in the making. What a nice kit this is! I finished it with Humbrol enamels and Eagle strike decals, 309th FS, 31st FG, USAAF, Italy, 1944. It assembles flawlessly, despite some odd engineering around the cowl, radiators and wheel wells. I personally feel that this may be the best model I've built in 43 years of modeling. The only nitpick I have with this kit is the fact that the sliding portion of my canopy has a slight swirl in it that I thought would go away with the Future dip, it didn't. This is a great kit, can't wait for the Vc!
John,
Very nicely done. I really like the USAAF markings on this. Great work
Thanks, I reposted better pics.
sweet build...looks like a nice shape too
I reposted nicer pics, thanks.
John, is there a chance you could go through your photos of this in your graphics program and brighten them? It's really hard to see.
Thanks Tom, reposted better pics.
If you're using Photoshop, click "Image," then "Adjust," then "Brightness/Contrast." Bring up "Brightness" so you overexpose it to get it visible. You may also want to adjust Contrast up or down depending. You're obviously shooting with available light, and it would help if you used as many lights as possible during the shoot, but you'll likely still have to use "Adjust" (I know I do). It will give us all a chance to see the great work on this model. Please re-post the pix after you do this.
Nice Spit, I would like to see more pics of it tho'...One thing about the camo, some of the Spitfires in this theatre, especially the earlier marks were in the sand/brown colours where this one is in the usual grey/green. Anyone know why or when it changed? I know many USAAF aircraft took British planes on charge with their standard camo. Just wondering...!
By late 1943, Spitfire IXs in the Grey/Green scheme were showing up in Italy, due to the fact the desert war was over. Same with Spitfire VIII aircraft.
Makes sense! Thanks Tom.
Thanks Gregor, I reposted better pics.
