Freiherrn Manfred von Richthofen
In my apartment for years hanging an art print of a
Jagstaffel from the First World War, it is to see the Fokker Dr.I pilot Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen.
I was interested in the plane of the coloring ago recreate it, the kit was a Revell kit in 1:28 scale.
Incidentally, I've also built on a smaller scale 1:72 to show the proportions of both models.

Wow, talk about a trip down memory lane. Built this kit when I was nine years of age. Mowed a lot of lawns and raked a lot of leaves to get the money to purchase it. I remember it being a very enjoyable build. Did not know that MVR was a smoker, someone should have told him that cigarette smoking is bad for the health. Nicely done as always, Hans.

Hans, Deine drei dekker sehen sehr schon aus! Hope my German is up to snuff. Good to see a 1/28 scale kit built up for sure. Again, Nicely Done!

Causes one to wonder where Revell came up with such an odd scale as 1/28th. Good-lookin' build(s), Hans.

Back in the day, there were quite a lot of odd scaled kits from the various different scale model manufacturers. Revell & Aurora seemed to be the kings of odd scales. I remember getting the screw together Fokker DVII & Se-5a from Aurora. I do not recall their scale but, they were pretty big. Sometimes the boxes the kit came in were bigger than the kits inside.

Seamus... Man have you brought back some memories...I too had one of those BIG Red (1/18 perhaps?) screw together Fokker DVII's. I recall I got it from my Dad as a Birthday present sometime in the early 70's. That and the Airfix 1/24th scale BF 109 E kit were a couple my favorite models as a kid. Cheers to you! Erich

Very Good Hans, nicely presented.

beautiful job hans...that revell 1/28 and the hobbycraft are both over looked kits and under rated... in comparison the roden is over rated because it's just not that much better at 2 or 3 times the price...when will modelers learn it's the paint job not the kit that peaks our interests...beautiful job

Really nice - you got the red right. It was thinned and painted over the streaky camo. That's how it got the "blood red" color.
