1/24 Trumpeter Hurricane Mk IIC – Special Night Finish
Here are a couple of shots of Trumpeter's 1/24 Hurricane. I bought the kit second-hand at a model show last spring and built it in the summer. It's OOB except for replacement belts. The livery is for a night fighter of 87 Squadron in 1942.
The only caveat with the kit is for the undercarriage. There are only small stubs to marry to the wheels, so I drilled them out and added a small section of brass rod, as the kit sits heavy and wouldn't stand the weight in the long term on such a dainty connection!
It sure looks good, Rob. I'm not a big fan of 1/24, but I think it was brave of you, to do a black paint job, not always the easiest thing to carry out in any scale. You carried it off quite successfully.
When I first saw this, Rob, I didn't take in the fact that it's 1/24. Like Joe has said, a black finish is difficult (that's why I've never bought a black car), but you've definitely pulled it off with this model.
If the Spitfire was Thoroughbred Race, then the Hurricane was the Clydesdale Work Horse! Great job!
Rob,
Very nice. I like the black scheme. It's definitely something different. Great job.
You're right, it's your first article. 🙂 Great job. Love a nightfighter a Hurricane.
