1/72nd New tool Airfix Bf109

December 30, 2013 · in Aviation · · 16 · 1.7K

A friend at work gave me this as a gift for Christmas and said build that before the 6th of January when we return to work! so I did ๐Ÿ™‚

I would not usually bother with as it is way too small for me and my skills but it was a welcome break from more intense projects.

  1. Ya done good, Andrew...just don't break it on the way to work! ๐Ÿ™

  2. Ha ha love it Craig! will try not to ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. Those new tooled kits that Airfix are putting out look the bizz.
Nice build sir, and done during the festive season with al that it brings.
    Well done.

    • Hi Simon, thank you so much for your very generous comments BUT the fit and finish were dog awful, lots of filler and horrible raised panel lines, the way Airfix have improved is the decals, the plastic is still way too soft as is the detail compaired with Tamiya, Hasegawa and Revell in this scale and please remember that Airfix were/are thee original from back in the day when we were kids! I have not tried any of their new 48th offerings but I know they are supposed to be really good, maybe one day ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Ok Andrew, I have got their Fw190-A 8 to build at some stage, I will see how that pans out.
I am the same as you for Airfix, cutting my teeth on their kits in the early 70`s... How things have changed.

  4. Looks good Andrew. Nice way to spend the holidays.

  5. Nice clean build. Could you name the brand of paint used on the model? The finish is very good.

  6. Welcome onboard, Andrew, and thanks for sharing. Looking forward to see more of your work soon!

  7. Andrew,
If this is what you can do within such a short and busy time frame, I can't wait to see what you can do with more time allotted. Looks very impressive to me.

  8. There's nothing like having deadline to work to, and you made it, Andrew, and you've made a good job.

  9. very nicely done and welcome aboard
