Trumpeter 1/24 scale Mitshibusi A6M2 mod 21 Zero

October 17, 2015 · in Aviation · · 8 · 4.1K

This kit have been standing on the shelf for quite awhile. This weekend I decided to have a quick and easy build.

The kit went together very nicely with very few fit problems. The cockpit is well detailed. I only added seat belts from lead foil and scratch etched buckles. I added wiring on the interior as well as on the engine.

The paint I mixed myself from a mixture of Humbrol enamels and Tamiya acrylics until I was happy with the shade. I primed the aircraft with Humbrol metalizer aluminium before pre shading with black green and over spraying the light green. I lightly weathered using oils as well as silver pencil and paint for the chipping.

I am quite happy with the outcome and another biggie added to my collection.

Enjoy.

  1. Fine looking effort, Tappie. I like it a lot!

  2. Tappie, if there was a "different" backdrop to several of the photos, I'd have thought it was the real thing! Hard to do, given the size of the model, as any misstep is real noticable. Not a problem, here! Your "weekend" was really productive!

  3. Well well well, the Tappie is back. Very nice build Buddy, as usual. great work.
