Hobbycraft 1/48 P-40 L/M
Again this was supposed to be a quick out of the box build but ended up with me spending a lot of time on the model. First of all, I "canvassed in" the wheel wells using coffee filter paper. Then I detailed the cockpit with leftover etch parts from other builds. Paint is Model Master with Polly Scale flat as an overcoat. Weathering was with pencil and a Tamiya weathering kit-nice stuff by the way. If you remember, this is the old AMT/ERTL/Italeri kit that's been around for a while. It's not a bad kit but not a contest winner either. The fit is just not that good and I spent a lot of time working on getting that done as well as possible.
The machine guns were drilled out and very small hypo tubing used to replace the molded parts. Hope you like her. Clark
Love it, great job on a great aircraft.
Thanks very much Robert. I appreciate your comment.
Hello Clark...Nice job on your P-40 build
Thanks Jim. Looking forward to your next bird as well.
Nice looking P-40. Like the color scheme also.
Thank you Greg. Kit decals which were pretty good, except for the tail checkers that didn't line up.
Good lookin' build, sir...I like it.
Thanks Craig...
I actually kinda like the AMT kit. As you've ably demonstrated, it's possible to make a very nice model out of the old thing. Good job!
Thanks very much Pip, that is a true compliment coming from you!
Clark, beautifully done!
Thank you Bernard. I think the interior upgrades really helped too.
Outstanding job on a less than stellar kit. "You dun good" Clark. I like it a lot. Having built one of these, I feel your pain! Ha ha ha ha . Now go reward yourself with build a Hasegawa P-40.
Thank you Frederick and although I have a few of the Hasegawa kits in the stash, I've turned my attention to a 1/48 Hobbyboss Demon. On the operating table now!
Love it!
Thanks Rob.
It looks the part, Clark, and the tail chequers look fine, too.
Thanks George and good day to you sir.
Nice work Clark like the Checkerboard and the Desert Camo great Kittyhawk - merlin engined version too !
Thanks David!
