1/48 Academy Spitfire FR Mk.XVIII
Hello Folks
This time I would like to present completed build. This time it is Spitfire Mk.XIVe version from Academy. The build take me a two year or so but not because the kit is woeful but I have long brakes working on different project. The build was basically straight out of box I only used some spare PE seat belts and resin exhausts prop and spinner. The kit goes together very well considering that the plastic parts has some age, decals are after market one from Xtradecal company X48-127, they are very nice and conform well to the panel lines after applying Set and Sol. Weathering was done using Clay Grime wash and some powders from Tamiya Weathering Sets. My kit represents FR Mk.XVIII TZ 233/T, 208 Squadron RAF Fayid, Egypt, 1949.
Kit manufacture: Academy 12275
Scale: 1/48
Type: SPITFIRE MK.XIV E
Extras used: Eduard PE set belts, Resin Exhaust and Quickboost 48194 Spitfire Mk. XIV Propeller W/Tool
Paints and colours used: Gunze Mr Color 369 BS 381C/450 Dark Earth, Tamiya XF-83 Med Sea Gray, Custom Mix from Tamiya paints for Dark Slate Gray.

Beautiful work on a beautiful bird , Always like this version of the Spitfire. I guess it’s because I built the ancient Hawk kit so many moons ago

Outstanding painting, I like the subtle wethering and the tridimensional effect.

🙂 … Greetings … 🙂 :
Beautiful work on that Spitfire model Michal. The camouflage and the weathering are really well done. And yet, the silver canopy frame makes it pop out visually, very nice work.

Hi Michal, Really a Great looking Mk XIV all around. The different color combo gives it a unique look. Despite the kits dimension problems I think they still build up nicely-Thanks for posting it.
