Euro Model Expo in Lingen, Germany

March 27, 2017 · in Show Reports · · 10 · 5.6K

On the 24th and 25th of March the EME took place in Lingen in northwestern part of Germany. It was organised by Berthold Tacke, the former chief editor of ModelFan, the main German language modeling magazine. The idea was to create a big modeling event in Germany, that would also attract modellers from the neighboring countries. There are many modeling shows in Germany, but up until now there has been no attempt to organize a really big one.

It seems that Berthold was very successful in doing this. Modellers from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Britain, Poland, Czech Republic and Denmark were present.
Two big halls were filled with vendors and club stands. There was also a competition, where about 150 models took part. All in all there were probably some 2000 models to be seen. Of course there were also workshops and lectures by prominent modellers on building- and painting techniques.

The picture gallery below does not attempt to be representative of the wealth of models exhibited. I just took snap shots of the models that happened to catch my eye. I do hope however, that they will give you an impression of the the quality and diversity of the exhibition.
Enjoy the pictures.

Nest year, EME will take place the 24. and 25. of March 2018

  1. Thanks for sharing this with us, Ulf, your pictures show a uniformly high standard of modelling. The submarine docks were very interesting and the Esci Mk II Escort brought back many happy memories for me.

  3. Wow...sure glad I didn't have to be a judge at THAT show. I don't know where to start...so much excellent talent on display, it's hard to pick a favorite - they're ALL exceptional. Makes me wanna re-think what my "hobby" should be. Thanks for sharing your photos, Ulf.

  4. Ulf, thanks for posting these. The ships on display are phenominal! Everything else is equally first rate and entertaining and inspirational. I'm with Craig, I'd choke up if I had to judge any of these.
    Absolutely marvelous!

  5. Some fabulous work on display - I loved the aircraft shadows on the water over the sub - why hasn't someone thought of that before! Some great dioramas represented as well.
