RAF Fortress III Detail Photos
Following on from last week's post on my RAF Fortress III, I said that when the new issue of AMW was out I'd post some detail photos. Well the new issue is out tomorrow so here are the photos as promised. This is a 1:72 kit so you are seeing some extreme close ups here, mostly shot with a 60mm Nikkor macro lens on a Nikon D7100. On the originals its possible to read the stencil data on the props! So what yo see on your screen is probably several times life size. While the photos cant show you the interior that well, it does give a hint of what is in there.
The engines and bomb bay are somewhat more visible. these were both complex areas to assemble, the bomb bay has some very difficult parts to fold up. The ignition harnesses on the engines was assembled with the engines in a small vice and two sets of tweezers were used to gently tease the leads into place. I hope this gives some sense of the work that went into this model and you enjoy looking at the pictures.
Now that right there's a nice-lookin' paint job, Alan - all dressed up like a Lancaster, huh? 🙂
Lovely build Alan!
You did a fantastic job on building this B17, also with the amount of PE used. Currently enjoy reading the article in AMW. Most inspiring!
Fantastic !
Pretty airplane and not the typical B-17 type.
So nice...
VERY well done!
Very beautiful
You've done 'er proud, Alan!
Alan, thanks for following up with some more pictures of this beauty. Very well done, wonderful detail, your paint finish is great !
Just gorgeous Alan. Top marks for build, paint, photography & eyesight!
Now that is something to write home about, Smooth buttery finish in the paint dept and some good pics. Something off the beaten path with B-17s too.
Two thumbs up Alan.
Very nice.
Good looking Fortress Alan, nicely done.
Macro lenses show up every imperfection and every piece of dust. The fact that there are none to see really shows how clean and outstanding a build this is! Beautiful!
Nice!
alan...you are such a master of art...so gifted
