Revell Deutsche U-boot Type VII C/41 (1:144 Scale)

September 3, 2017 · in Ships · · 17 · 3.4K

I bought this kit a while back and it's been my stash for some time. Though I mainly build WW2 aircrafts, a little change is sometimes nice.

The model is of U318, which served with the 4th (training) 11th, 13th and 14th U-boat flotilla in the period November 1943 till May 1945. She mostly patrolled off the coast of Norway and saw different ports as base like Trondheim, Bergen, Egersund and Kristiansand. Her last base was at Narvik. U318 completed 6 patrols, but did not sink any ships. After the war she was sunk outside the north coast of Ireland, in December 1945.

The kit is very nice detailed, and came together quite easily. This is the first model which I used Vallejo Model Color for the base color. The rust effect is done with oil paints, and the other streaks of dirt is Ammo by MIG panel wash. I wanted a dramatic look, so I went a bit heavy with the weathering.
