Introduction
Hi all, I'm new to this forum so I thought I would introduce myself. I am a retired contracts manager who took up the hobby again in 2009 after a 35 year break. I consider my self to be an aircraft modeller but just lately I've been spreading my wings and trying new things. I recently completed my first ever diorama and tracked vehicle! I have included pictures of some of my latest work just to give a flavour of my interests. Looking forward to joining in with you in the future.

Welcome to iModeler, Derek. Some nice work on display there, Graham Hill's Lotus 49 in Gold Leaf livery is especially good being more my kind of thing. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Welcome! Great work, Derek. I look forward to seeing MORE of your work!
Welcome - loving the work - all of really high quality. I joined here about a year ago and I can say confidently you are going to love it!
Welcome aboard! And might I say, that is one sweet looking Hellcat! (not to cast aspersions on the other works of art you've got there).
I can but only concur with the masses...welcome to the site and you obviously haven't "lost your touch" during your hiatus. 🙂
Hang on a minute, that Katana on English plates is a real bike ,right ?.Welcome to iModeller.

Welcome, Derek. Can't wait to see your models and especially the Lotus.
There are more pictures of the Lotus here derekaaustin.myportfolio.com
Fantastic work and a nice range of subject. As Neil noted, quality of realism you achieve is truly impressive - with all of your builds.
Thank you all for your warmth of welcome and kind remarks.
Welcome Derek, you'll find this to be friendly modeling site with lots of exceptional modelers.
I can see that, that's why I joined! ? ?
Welcome Derek, glad to have you aboard! You work is excellent, and I look forward to seeing more of it (especially the aircraft, as that is my cup of tea...). Love the Hellcat.
Derek, welcome! That is a nice Lotus! I'd never have guessed that is your first diorama. I'll look forward to seeing the subsequent ones. Great stuff!
Great work on various subjects. Your diorama looks fantastic. I'm sure you will find iModeller a great spot to hang around.
Very realistic work. Welcome.
I noticed you have the bane of all modelers' existence, a bit of decal silvering. Here's a tip how to never have the problem again. When you see the decal silvering, take a #11 X-acto tip and slice hell out of it, then slop on more setting solution, keep watch, add more solution if necessary, let it set up. Silvering gone. You can even do that now, no matter how long it's been since you built the model.
Thanks for that Tom.
Hello Derek,
Most welcome. You have a nice range of interests.
All high quality build models. What are you working on at this moment?
Regards, Dirk The Netherlands.
A Tamiya 1/24 Subaru Impreza WRC from 99. I'll post some pictures when it's finished!
Welcome Derek. The builds look great but I really like the US bike
Great introduction ...love the Hellcat with all of it imperfections and the rest of the kits are top notched. Keep up the good work and looking forward to seeing your next build. Derek, your gifts and talents will be appreciated with this group
Derek - a question: the Lotus Ford. Is that car Graham Hill's and what year does the model represent?
I saw Graham Hill win the 1966 Indianapolis 500 race. It was a VERY exciting race and he was my pick for the win. It may be the LAST time I picked a winner for the Indy 500! HA!
It is a representation of Hill's car but not an exact replica of a particular race. The difficulty I had was finding one that matched the decals supplied! I, therefore, went typical!
