1/48 Yak-1b Eduard/Accurate Miniatures
Hello Folks
Here it is my first completed in 2018 kit. This time it is Yak-1 from Eduard wich is re pack of Accurate Miniatures kit with Eduard goodies like PE parts and Masks. Goes together rather well some sink marks and ejection pin marks to take care but nothing major. I choose to mark my Yak-1 of an unknown unit, Leningrad front, Spring 1942.
Kit manufacturer: Eduard
Scale: 1/48
Type: Yak-1
Extras used: Quickboost resin exhaust
Paints and colors used: Tamiya Nato Black, Custom mix for Russian underside blue and camo green.
Good work, Michal.
Lovely work, Michal.
Great photo here of some of the 'night witches'. More often they flew the old WW1 bi-planes, but 586 regiment flew Yaks (you can see one right behind these ladies). Their name came from the Germans; the women would fly over targets, switch off engines and glide while dropping bombs - all at an altitude so low that they didn't wear parachutes. Interestingly these older Polikarpov Po2's were slow slow (the maximum speed was lower that's the stall rate of 109's and 190's) so we're hard to shoot down.
Anyway, great work, hope to see more of your modeling soon!
Excellent Yak, solid build and painted, with just the right amount of weathering.
Good work sir
Yes, many people forget that the Yaks were predominantly wood and get carried away with applying ‘metallic undertones.’
Yes indeed. What's even more fun is those who put "dings" on Spitfire Jablo blades and Fw-190 and Bf-109 paddle blades - all of them wooden.
What are “Dings”? Never heard that word before
Pedro, a "ding" is the impression or indentation where something like a rock hits a wooden propellor blade or a piece of sheet metal. It leaves a small dent rather than tearing away part of the material. It can be on metal as well. That's a "ding" - it can also describe the sound this event makes if done on metal.
Hope this helps, Pedro @holzhamer
