Fun Build Completed: Part 2 A 1/48 Tamiya Bf-109E-3
OK many of you followed and commented on my last posting which was Part:1 Fun and Easy Build. I described how I had been involved recently in some very complicated, commissioned builds sometimes not having as much fun as I once had. In this build I had decided to purchase and quickly build an under $20 model just for fun. SO, I did purchase this older Tamiya 1/48 Bf-109 E-3 for $16 bucks at local hobby shop. My goal was to keep it fun, sticking to well practiced techniques, not getting carried away with extensive research, and building it mostly OOB. I did add a few bits and pieces to the plain cockpit to busy her up, but not much else. Well goal accomplished. This kit was well engineered, and a fun, easy, back to basics sort of build. I completed in about 3 1/2 days working 2 to 3 hrs per day. Here is the finished build and hope you enjoy the pictures. Its not up to my usual standards but so what, I had a blast!
Nice lookin' work there, Paul...I like it.
Paul,
Love it... A real "dirty bird" . Some times a quick build for yourself is therapeutic .
Comfort food. And the airplane flown by the German ace who made "every day a bad day" for the RAF defenders of Malta in the spring of 1941. Nice work!
Very nice Paul, the cockpit detail and weathering is outstanding!
I already commented how much I liked this on your Part 1 post - a real beauty! I am amazed at the 3-days effort though. Maybe it's because I brush paint and have to wait longer for things to dry, but a minimum effort on an OOB kit is more like 4 weeks minimum! (using standard spare time)! I'm gonna have to fire up that airbrush, so I can keep up with you guys...
Great job!
